Meal Replacement Shakes | Bakcountry Athlete Journal

Shakes are a great way to get A LOT of healthy nutrients in to your body all at once and make them taste great too. They can replace meals during the day and won’t make you feel like they are weighing you down like a big meal sometimes can. Here are a few of my favorite recipes that I eat daily.

Blueberry Banana:

-A handful of frozen blueberries ( I use mostly frozen fruit because I like my shakes colder but you can use fresh as well. )

-1 Banana

-1 scoop of your favorite protein powder, or 25g. ( I use J-Rob Whey Protein Isolate. Chocolate or vanilla flavor go great with all these recipes. )

-10 oz of Coconut-almond milk ( or regular almond milk ).

-One small scoop of natural peanut butter

-3 to 5 ice cubes ( optional )

Blend to the consistency you like and you’ll have a great antioxidant shake meal.

Blueberry-Banana-Smoothie

 

Strawberry Peach:

-A handful of frozen strawberries.

-A few slices of frozen peaches.

-Scoop of protein powder, or 25g (Chocolate flavored goes well with this ).

-10 oz almond milk ( we recommend Silk brand ).

-One small scoop of natural peanut butter.

-3 to 5 ice cubes ( optional )

Blend to your desired consistency.

Strawberry-Peach-Smoothie-1

 

Spinach Super Food:

-Handful of frozen blueberries.

-A BIG handful of baby spinach.

-1 Banana.

-Small scoop of natural peanut butter.

-1 scoop of protein powder, or 25g ( Chocolate or vanilla ).

-10 oz of almond milk (might need to add more or a little water if it is too thick).

-3 to 5 ice cubes (optional).

Blend thoroughly and enjoy.

So there are my three favorite recipes for a quick and easy protein and nutrient packed meal shake. The Strawberry Peach tends to taste a little more sugary and I usually only make it for a dessert. I always try and incorporate something green ( spinach ) in my shakes. It’s easy to pack a lot into the blender and you can hardly taste it.
